Lycanthropes

Tribes of lycanthropes haunt the Elven Wilds. Acting in packs, these fierce warriors attack any vulnerable Elven settlement they can find to gain sacrifices for their bloody spirits.

Physical Traits[]

  • Race: Lycanthrope
  • Brown, Black, rarely albino.
  • Yellow, blue, red

Personality[]

The Lycans live in a tribal society, in which the mightiest warriors and hunters command the most respect and authority. They are savage and prone to fits of rage, rapidly shifting between their bestial and humanoid forms as their moods vary. Lycans who have succumbed to their bloodthirst are far more likely to feed off the most available carcass than they are to continue fighting.

The Lycans harbor a special hatred for the Elves with whom they share the Wilds, and are feared for their hunts on small Elven settlements and outlying cottages.

Lycans often varied between their subspecies and base species. Elves, Dwarves, Humans, even the odd Ogre have been observed to suffer from the curse of Lycanthropy, themselves turning into Wererats, Werewolves, Wereboars, or even Werebears.

Storyline[]

Pre-Game Story[]

A dire foe of the Elves, the Lycans share with them the Wilds, and while they hold the smaller territory, they defended it fiercely, and were prone to minor hunts on vulnerable homesteads. While they were tribal, and often sacrificed victims to their bloody spirits, they were not spellcasters, instead preferring to tear into their prey with tooth and claw (they were competent with either form of tooth, steel or bone)

In-Game Story[]

Recently Elven scout reports describe the Lycans as being far more organized and aggressive. Their true danger was only revealed when the party discovered them trying to destroy and corrupt the Heart of the Forest, potentially flipping the climate of an enormous region of endless summer straight into the winter of the surrounding wilderness. A potentially massive elemental disturbance, if the party had not stopped their plot.

The next time the Lycans were encountered was when Thyella killed a small hunting party which had captured the Warder Micelon.

Little has been seen of them since, between the Battle of the Wilds, the mass exodus by the Elves and the total obliteration of Kardolan. It believed they were destroyed.

Relationships[]

  • Melvin: A temporary ally of the Lycans. He fofered them the Elves and the means to hit them where it would wound them most. He is nothing more than that to them.
  • Reciful, Therai, Thyella, Bant, Elorin, Gauthak: The party is the primary cause of the total destruction of the Lycan's small tribes, between their massive loss of warriors from the fight at the Heart, the higher priority they have as targets in the eyes of Elven Rangers due to the party's actions, and the fact that none of them were taken onto the Godhammer. The death of the species lies on the party's shoulders.

Quotes[]

  • You DARE spit on us dwarf?!
  • We shall taste Elf-flesh!
  • Yes, I AM a Wolgre! Thank you for asking.
